Officials from Chengdu Municipal Committee of Communication said on Thursday that 1, 000 more buses will be put into operation in the city this year. 

The new echelon is designated to reinforce the public transportation of the city and replace some old or diesel-driven buses. Meanwhile, relative departments will erect 500 electronic displays to provide traffi c information for local residents and upgrade the transportation control system of the city. Local authorities wish these measures will serve to improve transportation situations in Chengdu.
